Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS)

Description:

Once the public employee/retiree becomes eligible for Medicare Part A at no cost, they must enroll through the Social Security Administration. If they are not eligible for premium free Part A, OPERS will provide substitute coverage to all recipients who have proof that they are not eligible for premium free Medicare Part A. All OPERS recipients must enroll in Medicare Part B (medical) when they become eligible and must submit proof of enrollment to OPERS. OPERS health plan acts as a supplement to Medicare.
