Medicaid eligibility depends in part on monthly income. Monthly income cannot exceed a specified standard amount. The standard amount usually increases each year. If a person with medical expenses has an income that exceeds the standards, he/she may be able to achieve Medicaid eligibility through a method known as "Spend Down".
Eligibility for Medicaid also depends upon current resources/assets. Total resource amounts cannot exceed a specified limit.
